Sing, Sing, Sing!

Sing, Sing, Sing!

Martin Luther once wrote “as long as we live, there is never enough singing.”

Everyone is sure to find a song they’ll love this holiday season as the talented singers from three choirs join the ESO for a fun-filled family event!

The ESO joins forces with our longtime musical partner the North Shore Choral Society (NSCS) as we perform Ring the Bells by African American composer Rosephanye Powell, one of the world’s most acclaimed composers of choral music. Hear for yourself how happiness abounds in this great holiday music. The ESO and NSCS will also perform Hanukah Fantasy, arranged by pianist, and past ESO soloist, Jeffrey Biegel. The arrangement includes familiar songs you know including Ma’oz Tzur (Rock of Ages), The Dreidel Song, and Hanukah, O Hanukah. Then, voices and spirits soar when the NSCS sings the timeless classic Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.

The Evanston Symphony Holiday Gospel Choir will join the Evanston Symphony for a version of Jesus, Oh, What a Wonderful Child made famous by Mariah Carey’s album Merry Christmas.

The voices of the talented Evanston Children’s Choir will make you feel like dancing “in three-quarter time” to the Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne classic The Christmas Waltz.

Don’t be surprised if you break into song as the ESO closes out the concert with all three choruses for the rousing Hallelujah from Grammy award winner Quincy Jones’ album Handel’s Messiah: A Soulful Celebration.
