Evanston Symphony Announces Auditions for Principal Horn

The Evanston Symphony will hold auditions for principal horn of the Evanston Symphony Orchestra on September 8, 2022.

There are some important things to know before you audition.

We rehearse on Tuesday nights 7:30-10pm.  We expect attendance at all rehearsals.

Rehearsals of concert week are Tuesday, 7:15-10 pm, and Saturday, usually at 12:30-3:30 pm. These rehearsals are mandatory.

The Evanston Symphony is a non-paid orchestra. We request that members pay dues, for which they receive 2 tickets to all concerts that can be used at any concert. If there is a financial hardship we will waive dues.

The concerts, excluding December, take place at Pick Staiger Concert Hall at 2:30, with a 1 pm call. The December concert is at Evanston Township High School at 3 pm. Our concert dates this season are:

• October 30
• December 11
• February 12
• April 2
• May 14

 Tchaikovsky 5  (mvt 2) Solo

 Brahms 1  (mvt 4) Solo

 Strauss Til Eulenspiegel - Solo

 Shostakovich 5 (mvt 1, from the Excerpt Book, low and high sections)

 Beethoven 3, Mvt 3, Trio, SECOND Horn Part

 Mendelssohn Symphony 3, mvt 2 (vivace non troppo)

 Mozart – Any Allegro Concerto Mvt of your choice
