Most memorable performance with the ESO

During the ESO’s 60th anniversary spring concert, Rachel Barton Pine played the Symphonie Espagnole for violin and orchestra. As an encore, she improvised “Happy Birthday” for the orchestra. I’ll never hear “Happy Birthday” again without thinking of that!

Favorite ESO soloist

Cellist Gary Stucka and violinists Irina Muresanu and Rachel Barton Pine

Why I like playing with the ESO

It’s exciting to play beautiful music with dedicated musicians in an orchestra that has such a wonderful community feel.

Favorite composer or piece

Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakoff

When I’m not playing with the ESO, I’m…

When I’m not spending time with my husband and three teenage daughters, I volunteer in the schools and several arts and professional organizations. Attempting a mid-life career change, I just completed a master’s degree in counseling. For fun, I enjoy theater, gardening and quiet walks with the dog.

Something most people don’t know about me

I love the violin, but have also dabbled with the piano, flute, clarinet, cello and viola. I can’t sing to save my life.
