Santa Claus Is Coming to Evanston

BREAKING NEWS: We caught up with Santa at his North Pole workshop, preparing for Christmas. But he was happy to take a few minutes out of his busy schedule to talk to us about this year’s Evanston Symphony Holiday Concert.

“Ho, ho, ho. It’s that time of year again, folks. And one of the great pleasures of the holiday season is the Evanston Symphony’s annual Holiday Concert, which will take place 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6 at Evanston Township High School.

“I see Maestro Eckerling is planning another great program. There are some holiday classics like Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, and two versions of Welcome Yule, plus some wonderful Christmas numbers like ‘Christmas a la Valse,’ ‘Sleigh Ride’ and ‘Away in a Manger.’

“Another great feature is the appearance of arts groups like the North Shore Choral Society, Evanston Dance Ensemble, ETHS A Capella Choir and Evanston Children’s Choir. And I am looking forward to hearing the newest group – The Evanston Holiday Concert Gospel Choir. That makes this one of the funnest and most family- and community-oriented events of the year.

“And best of all, for me, is that I’ll be back with some of my elves to lead the annual sing-along of our favorite holiday songs. You may not know it but I have a pretty good baritone.

“So for a rousing good time, and a great way to usher in the holiday season, I hope you all plan to meet me at the Evanston Symphony Holiday Concert!”
