A New Favorite Soulful Evanston Tradition

A New Favorite Soulful Evanston Tradition

The Evanston Symphony Orchestra is delighted to again welcome the popular Evanston Symphony Holiday Gospel Choir led by Reverend Ken Cherry for the sixth year in a row! The Evanston Gospel Choir will perform "Oh, What a Pretty Little Baby." This is the first time they will perform this piece with full orchestra. The orchestration of this piece was graciously funded by the Evanston Arts Council. Our rousing finale will combine the talents of the Evanston Gospel Choir, the North Shore Choral Society, Evanston Children's Choir, and the Evanston Symphony Orchestra to perform "Hallelujah," from Quincy Jones' "A Soulful Messiah." Enjoy our newest established tradition as we jubilantly combine a multitude of Evanstonian musical talent to end our concert.

Join us for an abundance of uplifting music and dance. Some other works to be featured on this year’s program are the Evanston Dance Ensemble performing select dances from The Nutcracker Suite. The Evanston Symphony Orchestra will present timeless holiday works such as Sleigh Ride, A Chanukah Overture, and It’s Christmastime. The North Shore Choral Society will offer their renditions of traditional favorites like See Amid the Winter’s Snow and the beloved Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah. But wait, there’s more! We also have the Evanston Children’s Choir taking center stage perform “Believe,” from the film The Polar Express.
